Inspiration

Boasting a rich legacy, the InterContinental’s midtown locale bears testament to classic New York City. Interior renovations to guestrooms and private spaces were made to “re-imagine” a vintage classic and restore grandeur. The design takes cues from the property’s heritage and evokes Federalist style, welcoming guests with ode to glamorous travel including grand entrances and a spacious lobby while incorporating the hotel’s commitment to sustainable practices and state of the art technology. Guestroom design reflect an aesthetic that can be described as “new traditional,” befitting the property’s original spirit. Calming white walls provide a soothing envelope for the custom crafted furnishings of mixed woods along with saturated ochre accents and neutral grays. Rooms are elegant but comfortable to give guests a feeling of home. In homage to artists from the hotel’s inception, each room is graced with a custom Hudson River-style art mural in sepia tones.
